Ahrensburg is rightly regarded as Hamburg's beautiful neighbor. The largest city in the district of Stormarn with a population of around 34,400 is located northeast of the Hanseatic city and combines the proximity to the cosmopolitan city of Hamburg with the advantages of a high quality of life in an attractive city in the countryside. The total area of the city region is 35.29 km². In addition, around 4,600 commercial enterprises have settled in Ahrensburg in recent years.

Ahrensburg is located in the metropolitan region of Hamburg which is one of the fastest growing regions in Europe. Over 5.3 million people live in the metropolitan region. Ahrensburg benefits from a particularly convenient location within the Hamburg metropolitan region. Ahrensburg is directly connected to Hamburg to the east and is directly connected to the center of Hamburg by two subway stations of the U1 line. The central center is located on the A1, whose importance as an important economic route in Europe will increase even further with the construction of the Fehmarn Belt Bridge. But other freeways such as the new A20 to the east and the A21 and A24 are also in the immediate vicinity. The North and Beimoor-South industrial estates are easily accessible by freeway via a short road link and are connected to the urban residential areas by regular bus services.

Ahrensburg Castle

The Ahrensburg Castle, one of the most beautiful Renaissance buildings in Schleswig-Holstein, is particularly famous. It was built at the end of the 16th century and has been a museum for Schleswig-Holstein's aristocratic culture since 1955. Remarkable here is not only the extensive exhibition, but also the many cultural events, ranging from concerts and fairs to public cinema screenings in the castle park.

Elbphilharmonie Concert Hall - Hamburg's proud landmark

On January 11, 2017 the Elbphilharmonie was opened. The Konzerthaus is perceived worldwide as a top musical address, and the crowds in Hafencity are correspondingly large. The Elphi, as it is affectionately known, has become Hamburg's visitor magnet with its spectacular viewing platform. The history of this expensive concert hall is almost forgotten: construction took seven years longer than planned and the city's costs exploded from 77 to 789 million euros.

Ahrensburg train station

Ahrensburg train station is located south of Ahrensburg city center and is in the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein. It was built in 1865 and celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2015. You can find a total of 5 platform tracks at Ahrensburg train station. The regional train line 21367 runs daily to Hamburg main station and the regional express RE 21466 runs to Lübeck main station.

BadLantic in Ahrensburg

The Badlantic leisure pool is located in Ahrensburg not far from Hamburg in the south of Schleswig-Holstein and invites many bathers with various water attractions in the indoor and outdoor pool. There is also a small sauna area. In the indoor pool of the Badlantic you can experience real sea feeling in the wave pool. For more action in the leisure pool there is a sports pool and a warm water pool. There are also different courses like Aquarobic, Aqua Cycling or Aqua Zumba. A whirlpool is available for relaxation in between. Outside the water you can relax in the comfortable beach chairs. In the summer months the Badlantic's outdoor pool invites you to jump into the cool water. The spacious outdoor area with a large outdoor pool also has a well-kept lawn for sunbathing and relaxing.

Hamburg Airport

Hamburg Airport, proper name Hamburg Airport, since 2016 also Hamburg Airport Helmut Schmidt, is the international airport of the city of Hamburg (with a small part on Norderstedt area). It is the oldest and fifth largest airport in Germany. In 2018 it was used by about 17.23 million passengers, a decrease of 2.2 percent compared to the previous year. The airport is a base of Eurowings and Condor.
